The Literary Dinner Party Book Tag

Do you ever find yourself wondering what it would be like to sit down and have a meal with some of your favorite literary characters?

Okay, imagine you’re hosting an elegant dinner party and you can invite anyone you’d like – just as long as they are indeed fictional. Can you picture the drama that would unfold as the colorful quests begin arriving and the party commences as the first round of delectable cuisine comes out? Imagine the conversation as the characters mingle, the secrets that would ultimately be exposed. Imagine the laughs, the crazy stories, the arguments!

Today we are going to enjoy some tea and chocolate because you, my friend, are invited to join me as I complete the Literary Dinner Party Book Tag.

This creative book tag was originally invented by Renee over at NEHOMAS2 but I was actually inspired by Jess and Teagan at Fictionnochaser.

This is your party so you can invite who ever you choose however, there is a guest limit of 11 guests (including yourself – we can’t have everything) and each guest must fit into one of ten categories. I am also adding in an extra rule for myself and that is a strict limit of only two Sarah J. Maas characters. You guys know me – the whole party would consist of the court of dreams and the court of Terassen.

Alright then, let’s get into it!

Body Text_ (1)

1. One character who can cook/likes to cook

I’m inviting Sylvia “Grandma” Redbird, the loving, wise and ever supportive presence in the House of Night Series. No one can cook like Grandma Redbird! Just imagine all the yummy treats she would bring us! You just know she’d bring one of her many picnic baskets with her famous lavender cookies. Not only will the party smell amazing but I’ll bet she’ll bring a center piece made from the lavender from her farm. Plus – I honestly heart Grandma Redbird – she is the sweetest person!

2. One character who has money to fund the party

Okay, you know I can’t host a literary dinner party without Alice Cullen. Not only is Alice someone I desperately wish I could be BFFs with but she is the queen of decorating parties. Remember the graduation party? Bella and Edward’s fantasy wedding? Yep – Alice is not one to be left off the guest list. Also with her visions she’ll be sure to keep everything running smoothly.

3. One character who might cause a scene

Who else would cause a scene like our girl Celaena Sardothien/ Aelin Galathynius? No one, that’s who! Whether she’s stalking the night as one of Arobynn Hamel’s elite assassin’s or taking on corrupt Kings and shifty nobles as the bad-ass Queen of Terassen Celaena/Aelin is always causing trouble with her sharp thong and wild-fire temper. Just imagine the sheer swagger and arrogance!

4. One character who is funny/amusing

There is really only one option for the resident-clown-type and that’s Rhysand’s wing-man (literally) Cassian, the bastard born warrior of the court of dreams. Caz is always making me laugh when I read his character arch with his jokes and all round silliness. Not only would he be the complete and utter life of the party but he wouldn’t be afraid to keep everyone in line if the conversation gets a little too out of hand. Plus he is amazing eye candy…

5. One character who is super social/popular

Okay this answer is so not original but really, is there ever another answer? Magnus Bane the High Warlock of Brooklyn. Not only would the attendance of such a character really up my party cred but just imagine the amount of glitter he would bring to the table. Magnus also knows absolutely everyone who is anyone so you can bet the the gossip will be plentiful.

6. One villain

Hmmmmm…. Who should I invite…??? Who could it be???

Just kidding – you just know I’m inviting Erik better know as the opera ghost or the phantom of the opera! Not only because the level of theatricality would be epic and he can serenade us all with his music of the night but honestly, I really think Erik would benefit from some social interaction. It’s about time he ventured out of the lair and into the sunlight. Plus, he could really do with a hug and a friend other than Christine and Daroga. (Also, need I mention Ramin Karimloo??? Nope? You got the point? Fine.)

7. One couple – doesn’t have to be romantic

FEYSAND!!!

Oh wait – I maxed out my Sarah J. Maas characters??? Dang!

Alright, then it would have to be one of my other favorite OTPs – Lady Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her beau the dashingly infuriating but also sexy Thomas Cresswell. Audrey Rose and Thomas are such a flirty, banterful pairing, the conversation would be cocky and hilarious plus they are just so adorable! Also I can see a potential row between Celaena/Aelin and Audrey Rose (the assassin and the forensic scientist). You know there will be drama. Also am I the only one who can picture an epic bromance forming between Caz and Thomas? And you know Magnus will have heart eyes for Thomas… So much drama!

8. One hero/heroine

I’m inviting the gallant, heroic James Fraser because a party can never have too many heros (or eye candy for that matter!). It’s probably a good thing Rowan Whitethorn isn’t invited because who are we kidding – Celaena/Aelin would climb him like a tree. Imagine the flirting! The drama! As long as Celaena/ Aelin saves me a slice… In fact, I’m pretty certain that most of my quests will be utterly drooling after Jamie. Zoey, Magnus (maybe not Alice – she’s devoted to her own gallant solider, Jasper) and even Grandma Redbird would appreciate the view. And what a view it it!

9. One underappreciated character

If I’m already inviting Grandma Redbird I can’t not invite Zoey Redbird. Zoey is one character I just knew I would be best friends with if she were actually flesh and bone. Not only do we share similar characteristics and personality traits but we have a lot in common. We both appreciate Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman, we both love the Phantom of the Opera and our favorite movie ever is Titanic. The conversation would be the definition of epic with us fangirling over our ships and what-not.

10. One character of your own choosing

Finally, a girl needs a date to the dinner party of the year right? So, my date, and the final guest I’m inviting to my literary dinner party is Daemon Black – the arrogant and infuriating alien come to earth. Not only has he been chiseled by the gods, he is sexy,  witty, sarcastic but also incredibly swoon-worthy and tender. The flirty banter would be fantastic and would set more than just my cheeks aflame. Daemon would make for a very interesting date, especially if he dances around the house with me to Hungry Like the Wolf in sock mittens!

So there you have my quest list for my Literary Dinner Party, I don’t know about you but I think this will make for a very interesting party indeed. I had so much fun participating in this tag so now I nominate you (If you haven’t already done so)! Don’t forget to Tag me so I can see you own answers. What did you think of my guest list? Let me know in the comments below!
