I Dare You Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (13).png

Guess who’s back – did you miss me? I sure as heck missed all of you!

So I’m back from my brief week hiatus. If you missed my October Wrap-Up I was away for five days volunteering for charity on an annual event I do with my family. More on that to come. The thing is, I actually didn’t plan on you noticing my absence. True story. I was going to pre-write and schedule my posts but as it generally does, life got in the way.

Anyway, today I’m back with a fun tag thanks to my bookish bestie Sibby from Siobhan’s Novelties. As always, be sure to check out Siobhan’s blog because it’s required reading. Thanks for that tag Sibby! x

So, let’s get into it as I spill the beans on some of my bookish habits and pet peeves in the I Dare You Book Tag.

Taylor Swift Lover Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (11).png

Father forgive me for I have sinned…

Confession: I may-have-sort-of out grown Taylor Swift…??? *Braces for the oncoming mob and pitch forks*. I was obsessed in high school, I bought all the albums and then the Reputation era began and I just kind of missed the hype. And it’s not just Taylor Swift –  I basically outgrew pop music as a whole. I’m more of a indi-rock, Lana Del Rey kind of girl.

That being said, I am a firm believer that 1989 was Taylor’s best album and I can definitely still appreciate the pop princess. That and the fact that when your girls Nish and Ngoc create their very own original tag and your bestie Siobhan tags you how can you not jump on-board the band wagon?

So a shout out to my girls over at Nish & Ngoc’s Book Nook for creating this tag and a big hug and lots of love to Sibby from Siobhan’s Novelties for the tag. ❤ ❤ ❤

Summer Bucket List Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (10).png

There’s just something about waking up with the sun hitting your face to put you in a good mood. After all, summer isn’t just a season; it’s a feelingSummer is driving down the coast with the windows rolled down. It’s ice cream dripping on the board walk. It’s salty hair and red shoulders. It’s playing cricket in the backyard and catching fire flies at twilight.

If I could live in perpetual summertime life would be perfect.

The Summer Bucket List Book Tag was originally conceived by Tiffany from Read By Tiffany. Let me tell you – this book tag has been at the pinnacle of my to-do list  so I need to give a big shout out to my girl Siobhan. Thank you for tagging me Sibby! Please show her some love and check out her blog too!

BuzzFeed Unsolved Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (9).png

Hey there demons, it’s me – ya girl!

So, little known fact about me; my brother and I have been avid fans of BuzzFeed’s Unsolved since it’s OG days with  Ryan and Brent. You know, the short but sweet episodes featuring the Somerton Man and the Hikers of Dyatlov Pass? Iconic. Granted, discovered the show first and then introduced the Berry Boys Ghoul Boys to my brother.

If you have no idea what I’m going on about prepare to be enlightened…

BuzzFeed Unsolved is a web series on YouTube and BuzzFeed featuring two best buds, Shane (a skeptic) and Ryan (a believer) as they explore unsolved cold cases, hauntings and urban legends. The series has two main focal points for each season: True Crime and Supernatural. The show is humorous, borderline goofy in tone, despite it’s dark subject matter with hosts Ryan and Shane constantly bickering over the question “are ghosts real?” [shakes head]. The shenanigans are priceless and the banter is iconic. The Bookish Adventure Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner.png

Hey guys, it’s time to grab that passport because today we are setting off on an adventure – of the literary kind of course!

All righty, at this point you know I sound like a broken record when I say I’m all about the setting and world building. As much as I adore a good romantic subplot and an epic character arc there’s just something to be said about exploring new worlds and their lore. So, when I saw the Bookish Adventure Tag on Siobhan’s blog there was just no way that I was going to scroll past because this is such a unique idea for a tag. Who doesn’t love writing about their favorite worlds? So here we are!

Also, side note, today also marks my 3 year Anniversary with Reading By Starlight. [WHOO HOO!] I know – what?!? Can you believe that it’s been 3 years already? Because I sure as heck can’t! So I just want to take this moment to appreciate all the friends I’ve made through this blog. You guys are so supportive and the actual best. I can’t tell you how reading all of your comments makes my day. And another thing – I also wanted to say thank you for being so patient with me these past few months. By now you all know that I’ve had a lot on my plate and I’ve been struggling with balancing everything. I’m trying to do better and hope that this year will see Reading By Starlight grow to new heights. You know what they say – third time lucky!

The Wanderlust Book Tag [An Original Tag]

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (1).pngOn the off chance that I ever won the lottery, I’d buy a one-way ticket to see the world.

Unless you are a Reading by Starlight newbie [in that case – welcome!], it’s no secret that I have an incurable sense of adventure and wanderlust. I mean, nothing rivals the thrill of chasing the horizon. Unfortunately though, I haven’t won the lottery and money will never grown on trees [no matter how I might persist]. So, for the time being, when I need to escape the realities of adultingall I need to sate my wanderlust is a good book.

If you have been following my little blog, you’ll also know that I’m all about the world building. I love how a good setting works to elevate the overall mood and tension. Nothing beats the draw of an eerie moorland, murky rivers, a wind-swept coastal town or even a ruthless, Tolkien-like fantasy world.

So, in celebration of immersive settings that transport us to alternative realities I decided to create my very first tag – The Wanderlust Book Tag. And, you guessed it – it’s all about dense world building and atmospheric settings. So, let’s get this tag started…

The Titanic Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (3).png

Unless you’re a Reading By Starlight newbie it’s pretty much common knowledge that I adore James Cameron’s Titanic. I mean, at this point in my said devotion, I think I deserve an honorable mention in the credits.

Anyway, in honor of Valentines Day this week [or Singles Awareness Day – Whoo hoo!], and because I just went on a bit of a Titanic bender I figured what better way to celebrate the love or, like me, lament being single than to do the Titanic Book Tag?

A quick disclaimer: this tag seems to have originated in the Spanish and French book community so unfortunately I have been unable to find the original creator. I did not create this tag. I have merely translated and edited the original tag after being inspired.

So, with that out of the way, let’s get into it…

* Cue Rose’s theme*

My [Updated] Unpopular Bookish Opinions Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (4)

Happy Thursday lovelies – I hope that you’re all having a good week so far.

Today I bring you an updated version of the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag. Now I know what you’re probably thinking: yes, I did participate in this tag already way back when in 2016. That being said, hindsight is a funny thing. looking back now it’s actually interesting to see how my opinions have altered while others haven’t changed.

I want to send a big ol’ thank you to the lovely Siobhan over at Siobhan’s Novelties for nominating me for my first book tag of 2019. Be sure to check out her blog – Siobhan is such a dedicated blogger and her reviews always open my eyes to hidden gems I might have other wise missed.

YA Playlist Book Tag

Reading By Starlight Book Tag Banner (6).png

I was tagged by the lovely and hilariously snarky ladies Jess and Teagan over at Fictionnochaser to do the awesome Tag they created themselves; The YA Playlist Tag. Now I have to say – this is actually one of the very best tags ever conceived. I mean, who here can honestly say they’ve never heard a song and thought “hey – this sounds like it was written for *insert character name here*!”. Right. Just as I thought. No one ever.

Anyway, I was so excited to do this Tag because without even thinking most of these songs and characters came waltzing straight into my mind. I’m always making playlists for my favorite book characters and series so this is literally perfect for me. So thank you so much Jess and Teagan for creating such a fun tag and thank you again for tagging me to take part in said tag!
