Let’s start off by addressing the enormous elephant in the room – the fact that this post [which I’ve been teasing for ages] is WAY overdue. As in two months overdue. Whoops.

I think we can all agree that 2020 was a weird year and by the end of it, I just needed a break.

But, despite the fact that 2020 was an actual dumpster fire, today we’re taking a look back at all the books that saved everything. Because let’s face it, while the world went to shit, we were graced with some truly amazing books. Some got me through quarantine, others through post-lockdown exhaustion.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s celebrate the best books of 2020…

The Real Neat Blogger Award

Coming to you live from quarantine, guess who’s back with yet another blog award? [You guys have honestly been WAY too good to me this year].

The Fourth Annual 2020 Book Blogger Awards

It’s finally that time of year again – time to dust off then roll out the red carpet and throw some confetti in support of our ever growing bookish community. It’s officially time for the Annual Book Blogger Awards [co-hosted this year by the lovely May and Marie].

The Book Blogger Awards serve as an opportunity to showcase those bloggers who go above and beyond. A peer nominated award, it celebrates creativity, passion and individuality within the blogging community. [You can learn more about the awards and how to nominate/vote here].

 Before I get into my nominations, I just want to stress that I wish I could nominate all of you. I believe that every blog is deserving of recognition. In fact, the very best thing about Reading by Starlight are the talented people I’ve met and the beautiful blogs I’ve discovered. The Sunshine Blogger Award is a peer nominated blog award that celebrates community love and positive energy. It’s a great opportunity to highlight those blogs dedicated to spreading sunshine and optimism. Once again, I am very grateful and humbled to have been nominated. This is my third nomination for this award which means so much to me – especially because Reading By Starlight celebrates uniqueness. I believe we always need more positive corners in this world. #spreadthelove.

Which brings me to the lovely Emma from A Few Chapters To Love. Emma is one of my favorite bookish people so please show her blog some love. Emma is the very definition of sunshine. As of today there are only four days left of the year 2019. In fact, there are only four days left of the entire decade itself. I’m going to give you all a second to process that.

Having allowed it to fully sink in, feel old yet? I do.

Anyway, evident existential crisis aside, the end of the year means it’s time to share our favorite books and I’m shaking things up a little. This year I’ve got new categories – yay! So let’s roll out the red carpet and celebrate the best books of 2019.
