Let’s start off by addressing the enormous elephant in the room – the fact that this post [which I’ve been teasing for ages] is WAY overdue. As in two months overdue. Whoops.
I think we can all agree that 2020 was a weird year and by the end of it, I just needed a break.
But, despite the fact that 2020 was an actual dumpster fire, today we’re taking a look back at all the books that saved everything. Because let’s face it, while the world went to shit, we were graced with some truly amazing books. Some got me through quarantine, others through post-lockdown exhaustion.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s celebrate the best books of 2020…
Coming to you live from quarantine, guess who’s back with yet another blog award? [You guys have honestly been WAY too good to me this year].
First of all, I have to send a BIG virtual hug to my good friend, Daria for nominating me. Daria is actually one of my closest friends on the interwebs [we’re both obsessed with stargazing and the city of Melbourne]. If you’re not already following, be sure to check out her reviews at Bookaholic’s Therapy. Thank you again for the nomination, Daria! 💙
It’s finally that time of year again – time to dust off then roll out the red carpet and throw some confetti in support of our ever growing bookish community. It’s officially time for the Annual Book Blogger Awards [co-hosted this year by the lovely May and Marie].
The Book Blogger Awards serve as an opportunity to showcase those bloggers who go above and beyond. A peer nominated award, it celebrates creativity, passion and individuality within the blogging community. [You can learn more about the awards and how to nominate/vote here].
Before I get into my nominations, I just want to stress that I wish I could nominate all of you. I believe that every blog is deserving of recognition. In fact, the very best thing about Reading by Starlight are the talented people I’ve met and the beautiful blogs I’ve discovered. I also want to send a big social-distanced-approved hug to my good friend [and fellow Disney enthusiast] Kay for nominating Reading by Starlight for a category. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! 💙
And so, without further ado, behold my 2020 Book Blogger Award nominations:
The Mystery Blogger Award celebrates discovering new blogs and inspiring posts and isn’t that such a lovely idea?
In the creator’s own words; “The Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” – Okoto Enigma
This is my second take at the Mystery Blogger Award and I was lucky enough to be nominated by two lovely ladies – Jamie and Julie. These ladies have amazing blogs so please go and show them some love. You can find Jamie over at Bubbly Books and Julie at One Book More. Thank you so much for the nominations! 💙
Guess who’s back again for round two? That’s right, today I’ve been nominated by Daria for the Awesome Blogger Award. Yet again! I have to send a big virtual hug to Daria for the tag. Daria’s blog is full of wit, sass and plenty of GIFs. Her posts always brighten my day so I would really appreciate it if you could show her some love over at Bookaholic’s Therapy. Thanks again, Daria! ❤
The Awesome Blogger Award was originally created by Maggie from Dreaming of Guatemala. This award celebrates “wonderful writers all across the blogging world”. It’s a nod to awesome bloggers alike – people whose blogs are beautiful and kind.
Alright, let’s do this one last time. But like, for real. 😉
The Sunshine Blogger Award is a peer nominated blog award that celebrates community love and positive energy. It’s a great opportunity to highlight those blogs dedicated to spreading sunshine and optimism. Once again, I am very grateful and humbled to have been nominated. This is my third nomination for this award which means so much to me – especially because Reading By Starlight celebrates uniqueness. I believe we always need more positive corners in this world. #spreadthelove.
Which brings me to the lovely Emma from A Few Chapters To Love. Emma is one of my favorite bookish people so please show her blog some love. Emma is the very definition of sunshine. I can always count on her to leave a lovely comment and I love fan-girling over books and ships with her. THANK YOU Emma for nominating me! *Sending hugs your way*. ❤
As of today there are only four days left of the year 2019. In fact, there are only four days left of the entire decade itself. I’m going to give you all a second to process that.
Having allowed it to fully sink in, feel old yet? I do.
Anyway, evident existential crisis aside, the end of the year means it’s time to share our favorite books and I’m shaking things up a little. This year I’ve got new categories – yay! So let’s roll out the red carpet and celebrate the best books of 2019.
Your girl is back with yet another blog award – you guys have been too sweet to me this year! This time around I have been nominated for the Awesome Blogger Award which was originally created by Maggie over at Dreaming of Guatemala.
According to Miss Maggie, the Awesome Blogger “is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger”.
Before I get into the tag, I have to give a big shout out to the lovely Emma, one of the ladies from A Few Chapters ‘Til Love. Emma is one of my newest bookish friends and honestly, I can’t believe I’ve only just found her blog so be sure to check it out. Thank you, Emma! ❤
The Sunshine Blogger Award celebrates community love and positive energy. It’s a great opportunity to highlight those dedicated to spreading sunshine and happiness. This is a peer nominated blog award and I’ve been very lucky [and humbled] to have been nominated not once, but now twice. I can’t express my gratitude enough – I work hard to keep Reading By Starlight a safe, positive environment. It’s a creative space to share my love of all things literary and it helped me find my people.
It’s been a very award-filled month and I’ve got to say that Siobhan over at Siobhan’s Novelties seems hell bent on making me tear up with happiness. Not only has Sibby nominated me for the Third Annual 2019 Book Blogger Awards but now for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Siobhan, you are just the sweetest and you’re nominations mean the actual world to me. Thank you! ❤
Now you may be wondering, just what is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is all about spreading love and positivity. It’s an opportunity to give a shout out to those dedicated bloggers who fill our community with sunshine. This is a peer nominated blog award that highlights creativity and all those who inspire. This is a huge honor because I try my best to make Reading By Starlight a safe, positive environment where we can talk all things literary and find our people. So, once again, thank you Siobhan for nominating me!
